A national park is a large area of land where the natural landscape, plants, and animals are protected. National parks may be created for leisure activities or for historical or scientific interest. Many countries have national parks, especially Brazil, Japan, Africa, India, the U.S and Australia. The first national park was Yellowstone in the northwestern U.S.. It was founded in 1872














Lets look at some of the worlds must see national parks   :



  • The Smokies: America's one of the most visited National Park. About 9.4 million visitors calculated in 2007 visited this park. And more than 9 million do visit the park every year.It is located in Tennessee and North Carolina. Clouds obscure a valley in Great Smoky Mountains National Park.Fog casts a veil over Clingmans Dome, the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains at 6,643 feet. The park preserves the world’s best examples of deciduous forest and a matchless variety of plants and animals.
  • The Grand Canyon: The setting sun strikes the Grand Canyon's North Rim. Nearly five million people travel to the canyon each year.With 4.4 million visitors Arizona's Grand Canyon National Park is the U.S.A's second-most visited park. It is also generally included in every list of 7 Natural Wonders of the World, often as the only U.S.
    site.
    . Millions of years of geologic history are laid bare by the Colorado River, the colors are breathtaking and shift with the angle of the sun, and the hiking or white-water rafting experience is second-to-none. President Theodore Roosevelt preserved the Grand Canyon as a national monument in 1908, and it was designated a national park 11 years later.If you want to see the more remote North Rim, visit between late May and early October, before heavy snows close the roads. Most people stick to the more easily accessible South Rim, and they don't regret it.Ninety percent of travelers first see the canyon from the South Rim, but crowds can be avoided by hiking the park’s many trails or driving to the cool evergreen forests of the North Rim.
  • The Northeast Greenland National Park: Northeast Greenland National Park is
    national park in GreenlandDenmark. It is the largest national park in the world, with an area of 972,000 km2. This makes it as worlds largest National park in area. An estimated 5,000 to 15,000 musk oxen, as well as many polar bears and walrus, can be found near the coastal regions of the park. This is claimed to be 40% of the world population of musk ox.                                                                                              
  • Uluru-kata Tjuta National Park: Uluru-Kata Tjuta is Australia's most famous national park. It became a national park in 1987. Uluru, or Ayers Rock, is sacred to the
    Aborigines, the native people of Australia, who own it. They believe that Uluru was formed from a large, flat sandhill at the time the Earth was created. Ayers rock is one huge sandstone block and the highest point is 348m(1,142 ft) above the plain. In the rock ancient carvings and paintings can be seen on the cave wall. Due to the ancient artifacts, it has been denoted as one of the UNESCO's World Heritage site.
  • Chitwan National Park: Chitwan National park is world's most famous and first national park of Nepal. It has been certified as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Resting at the
    foot of Himalayas, it covers
     93,200 hectares of terai region of Nepal. It is rich in Flora and Fauna, and has one of the last population of one-horned Rhino. It is also known one of the refuge site of Bengal tiger and Gharial crocodile .Apart from Rhino and tigers, once it was home for clouded leopard also. A total of 68 species of mammals, 544 species of birds, 56 species of herpeto-fauna and 126 species of fish have been recorded in the park.
  • Sunderban National Park: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Sundarbans National Park is a magnificent tangle of mangrove jungle that's the only one of its kind in the world. It's spread over 54 islands
    and extends into neighboring Bangladesh. Part of the Sundarbans is
    home to a 2,585 sq kilometer (1,606 sq mile) Tiger Reserve, which includes a 1,330 sq kilometer (826 sq mile) national park.
    The Sundarbans has three wildlife sanctuaries, one within the national park at Sajnekhali, as well as south of the park at Lothian Island and Haliday Island. In addition to tigers, the area is full of reptiles, birds, and other animals such as monkeys, wild boar, and deer.
